Brooklyn (its name as part of the city of New York, is also Kings County, a county of New York), the "Neighborhood of homes and churches", is one of the five boroughs of New York. It used to be, and still feels like a city in its own right, with about 2.5 million inhabitants. If separated from the rest of the city of New York, Brooklyn would be the fourth most populous city America.
Brooklyn is located at the westernmost point of Long Island and shares a land border with Queens, Brooklyn, that partially surrounds the north, east and south, is located in Manhattan's East River, west and north of Brooklyn and Staten Island is across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to the southwest.
Brooklyn is currently enjoying a period of growth and prosperity not seen since before World War II. There are world-class theater at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the proposed district center of a new art, including a new art museum and a very controversial house designed by Frank Gehry sports area for the Nets of the NBA.
